NEW BOARD DIRECTORS NEEDED
For more than 30 years, TOCA has brought neighbours together. From the Halloween Parade and the Spring Creek Clean-Up to community advocacy and sharing local updates, everything we do is powered by resident volunteers.
Like any healthy organization, we depend on fresh voices. In recent years, however, very few new volunteers have stepped forward. With the upcoming departure of some key board members, TOCA is now at a critical point:
Without new board members, TOCA cannot operate in the coming year.
If you have ever enjoyed a neighbourhood event, supported local improvements, or want to keep community connected, now is the time to get involved. Even a small amount of your time can make a big difference.
Serving the TOCA board does not involve a significant time commitment; the board meets once a month, minus the summer months, and consists of several committees:
Communications Committee:
- takes care of the newsletter, Facebook page, contact lists, and website
Social Committee:
- organizes our various events throughout the year, including the Halloween Parade, the Creek Clean-Up, the Neighbourhood Socials
Development Committee:
- supports resident and neighbourhood concerns with wider development issues, including housing, transportation, and infrastructure
Operations Committee
- oversees treasury and governance of TOCA, in accordance with the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act
If any of the above committees may be of interest to you, please come out to the meeting and consider raising your hand to join the board for a year! If TOCA cannot secure enough directors, it will be required to suspend operations for the year.
